The following information is based on clinical trial results from a multicenter, double-masked, randomized, vehicle-controlled, parallel study including 278 adult patients for four months of treatment. The most frequently reported adverse events were conjunctival hyperemia, eye pruritis, skin hyperpigmentation, dry eye symptoms, ocular irritation, and erythema of the eyelid. These events occurred in less than 4% of patients.

Adverse reactions reported with bimatoprost ophthalmic solution (Lumigan) for the reduction of intraocular pressure include, visual disturbance, ocular dryness, ocular burning, eye pain, foreign body sensation, blepharitis, superficial punctuate keratitis, cataract, eye discharge, photophobia, tearing, allergic conjunctivitis, increases in iris pigmentation, asthenopia, conjunctival edema, iritis, abnormal hair growth, infections (primarily colds and upper respiratory tract infections), headaches, asthenia.
